Worship Arts
Something for everyone...

Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.

                                                                                                                    Psalm 149:1, 3

The vision of the KUMC Worship Arts Ministry is to provide a means for Christian fellowship, discipleship, and service through music and dance.  The Worship Arts Ministry offers a variety of opportunities for all ages who feel led to experience God through His amazing gifts of song and movement.

Adult/Youth Vocal

Chancel Choir:  The Chancel Choir provides the music for our 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service each Sunday.  They rehearse each Sunday afternoon from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Worship Room.  No audition is required and you need not be able to read music to participate.  If you feel led to make a joyful noise to the Lord, this can be a great place to start.  Join us!

Christmas Chorale:  The Christmas Chorale is perfect for those who simply cannot make the full-year commitment to the Chancel Choir or who are interested in taking a "test drive" of the KUMC Music Ministry to see what it's all about.  This group meets on a limited basis to prepare for the Christmas program (typically from mid to late August to mid-December of each year).  For those with limited time but willing hearts and voices, this can be a wonderful opportunity to participate in the music ministry of the church.  Currently this group is rehearsing on Sunday afternoons from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Worship Room.

Praise Team:  The Praise Team provides the music for our 8:30 a.m. Blended Service each Sunday.  They rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Worship Room.  Participation in this group requires an audition and the ability to read music/charts.  Contact the Director of Music Ministries for more information.

Vocal Ensembles:  KUMC has a variety of ensemble groups - ladies', men's, and mixed.  These groups provide music on an occasional basis at worship and in special services throughout the year and are by audition only.  Contact the Director of Music Ministries for more information.

Instrumental

Praise Band:  The Praise Band provides music in support of our 8:30 a.m. Blended Service each Sunday as well as on other occasions throughout the year.  They rehearse with the Praise Team on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.  Participation is by audition.  If you play an instrument and feel led to join, don't let the fact that you may see someone already playing each week hold you back.  Our dream is to one day have multiple Praise Bands that play on a rotational basis - so join us!  We'd love to have you.

Chamber Players:  Do you play an instrment?   Brass, strings, or woodwind perhaps?  Then contact the music ministry!  We would love to use your gifts on an occasional basis to accompany our vocal pieces.  Additionally, we have opportunities for small groups of players to perform instrumental pieces in worship throughout the year.

Children & Youth

KUMC KiDZ Chorus:  Our children's choir for ages 3 through the 6th grade provides an introduction to music with a focus on fundamental rhythm skills and unison singing.  The children participate in worship on a regular basis and offer a Christmas program.  Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

KUMC Liturgical Dance:  Children and Youth are encouraged to praise God through dance.  Children and youth troupes meet weekly to prepare dances for worship.  Youth from 7th - 12th grade pracice from 4:15-4:45 PM and children through 6th grade practice from 4:45-5:15 PM each Sunday in the church lobby.
