Accompanist
Knightdale United Methodist Church
Part-time: 5 hrs/week

Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership in the music and worship arts ministries of Knightdale United Methodist Church. This individual will assist the Director of Music Ministries in planning, organizing, and leading the ongoing music and worship arts ministries of the church. This will be done primarily through accompanist duties, with piano proficiency required and organ, while preferred, is optional.

Qualifications
Experience in musical leadership in worship settings is preferred. This individual must have proficiency in piano, music theory, and program management. Organ proficiency, while preferred, is not a required qualification.

Job Characteristics
This is a part-time leadership position with the expectation that the individual will work according to specified duties and as the job requires. No office hours are required, however attendance at worship service and special services that include music are expected, as well as at called staff meetings. The individual holding this position will share leadership responsibilities pertaining to workshops and rehearsals to ensure musical and other performing arts are of quality and support the mission of the church. This position works closely with the Senior Pastor and Director of Music Ministries to align musical selections with the themes of the church year and sermon series. This individualʼs input and expertise is a valuable part of our worship ministries.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide piano accompaniment and special music for regular worship services, as well as funerals and weddings as schedules allow. Use of the organ is expected based on the individualʼs skills, but is not required.
• Communicate regularly with Pastor and Director of Music Ministries regarding worship themes and upcoming events, paying special attention to the liturgical calendar and special services (including funerals and weddings) where special music can be used to enhance the service.
• Advise as to musical selections for worship in conjunction with the Pastor and Director of Music Ministries
• Rehearse alongside choir and other groups which may be formed to enhance worship and meet the needs of the congregation.
• Secure substitute musicians when necessary.
• Coordinate with Childrenʼs Ministry and DMM to provide music program for Vacation Bible School or similar childrenʼs camps, if needed.
• Recruit members of the congregation for musical involvement for both vocal and instrumental ministries.
• Support KUMCʼs Vision to Splinter the Darkness with the Light of Jesus Christ, and contribute toward the churchʼs mission.

Compensation
$10,000 Compensation will be set by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee according to the candidateʼs qualifications. Vacation days are determined by the seniority guidelines set in General Personnel Policies, which will be provided upon hire.

Evaluation
Periodic reviews with pastor and annual reviews with Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
